Southern Heights was formed in September 2023, when five musicians met at the start of their college course. While Charlie and Liam had been friends throughout secondary school, Cameron and Ben were complete strangers to them. It didn’t take long for the group to discover their chemistry, bonding over a shared passion for music. In June 2024, George joined as the permanent bassist—bringing what Southern Heights hadn’t realized they were missing and solidifying the band’s current and permanent lineup.

Southern Heights’ sound is a vibrant fusion of alternative indie rock, infused with raw energy and punch. The band draws from a wide range of influences, blending the melodic sensibilities of bands like Wunderhorse and The Stone Roses with the gritty riffs of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore. Their dynamic drumming, heavily inspired by Alter Bridge, contributes to their distinctive and energetic live presence. Their music explores a variety of themes, from love to living life and making the most of every moment.​
